Rice is such a wonderful crop, in which you find lot of fauna. It mainly consist of lot of predating insects and parasites of insect pests, which most of the time go unnoticed by farmer. Many a times its role in the rice ecosystem is not understood or felt by the farmer, and he mercilessly uses powerful pesticides on his crop to curb insect pests, but mainly killing predators and parasites than his target insect pests. This is happening everywhere mainly because of lack of knowledge regarding what is pest and what is predator insect?
Hence I feel it is highly needed for extention workers to make the farmers aware of pests and predators.
